Cawdor 16/11/14

#1 Post by Sandgroper »

Today was Strath's last shoot of the year at Cawdor. Rain seemed a distinct possibly first thing in the morning, but apart from the occasional light drizzle it stay away. Wind was non existent which made for excellent shooting conditions - the only downside to the day was that bad light stopped play earlier than expected.

Great to put another face to a forum name - it was pleasure meet up with DL and his better half! :good:

I had my 257 in it's new (old) stock to give a last run for the year and to fireform some brass for the winter.

My 257 now with a WWII K98 stock - not to everyone’s taste but it does tame the bounce!

The stock adds just over a kilo to the weight and brings to just over 5.6kg (12.3lbs) which is just about right for S-Class. I had a slight technical issue with the stock when the bipod stud pulled loose at 300m, but I still managed to hit a couple of the balloons on the target without the bipod, which was very satisfying! shakeshout

Last photo looking up at the range flag from the butts - scarcely moved from that position all day.

Excellent day all round. clapclap

Sandgroper,
What a good day that was. I've visited many clubs in the past, and it was good to see you, Andy and the rest of your club keeping the sport alive. Long may it continue, and once again many thanks for the warm welcome.
