Beretta M9 goes desert.

24" and less, a place to discuss all things handgun related, section 7.3. Long barrelled revolvers, long barrelled pistols and section 5. Overseas contributions are more than welcome.

No longer "available in any colour as long as it's black".

Looks nice.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder Scotsgun lol

Looks like it was a wasted effort - but I am sure civilian sales would be good if it hit the shelves.

I will be very surprised if the Army actually awards a contract for a new general issue service pistol. They are running out of money to pay for training so a new handgun with all of the stuff that goes with adopting it (training, armorer's equipment, holsters, tech manuals, arms racks, etc) has to be about one level from the bottom of priorities.

That S&W in 10mm might fill some shortfallings in the procurement.

I would be surprised if they went back to .45 , then there are still some that believe in the mythical stopping power of the .45.

The 45acp does have a mythical following in some quarters but there is no denying its proven round.
