Yes it is .38. It belonged to a friend. It was in terrible condition when he acquired it (It was given to him). He spent many hours getting it back into the condition in the photo.

I couldn't honestly say haven't seen the chap to whom it belonged for over thirty years so who knows. I prefer to think it hasn't.

Supposedly "Billy the Kid"'s favoured sidearm. First double action revolver by Colt, if not first ever. Probably made a millisecond or 2 of difference in a gunfight.
