SxS Side Lock Shotgun

#1 Post by Rockhopper »

Does anyone want this for free before I take it to the Police to be disposed of? It was an auction purchase some years ago but i don't feel its safe to shoot as its off the face and needs tightening up. The cost of getting that done would exceed the value of the gun (unless you can do it yourself or have very low risk aversion) Having said that after five years in my safe it seems to have tightened itself up somewhat!! It an ejector and says C.W.Andrews on the side lock. Someone has also started to re-chequer some of the stock.

I live near Mansfield. Shotgun certificate holders only of course.

Might tighten up with a bit of a tap with an 'ammer!

Might be worth a bit more than you think it is.

Tapping it with a hammer is certainly one way of doing it 😊

It’s the same maker but mines a very poor quality gun compared to that one.

Were I nearer, I'd take it and see if I could flip it. But I'm all the way down in Oxfordshire and my cabinets are full to brimming.

Don't scrap it. It's lovely old gun and deserves better.

If it were mine, I would have it checked out by a competent gunsmith in the first instance and if it was found that it was beyond economical repair, I would consider having it deactivated as a wall hanger.
It's too good to scrap.
